Accessibility at the site and the restaurant

Our Commitment

Hummus Ashkara ("we" / "the restaurant") considers accessibility a leading value and is committed to making its services and website (https://hummus-ashkara.co.il) accessible to the public, including persons with disabilities, in accordance with the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Law, 5758-1998 and the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities Regulations (Service Accessibility Adjustments), 5773-2013.

Accessibility Standards

The site complies with Israeli Standard IS 5568 level AA, equivalent to the international WCAG 2.0 AA standard by the W3C. Testing was performed on Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox across desktop and mobile.

Site Accessibility Features

• Native accessibility menu (no third-party plugin) — text resize, high contrast, color invert, grayscale, link highlight, text spacing, animation pause, reset
• Full screen-reader support (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) via ARIA and proper semantics
• Full keyboard navigation — Tab, Enter, arrow keys; visible focus ring on every interactive element
• Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page
• Proper language tagging (lang="he"/"en") and RTL/LTR direction
• Alt text on every meaningful image
• Minimum contrast ratio 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text
• Minimum 44×44 px tap targets per WCAG 2.5.5
• Form labels linked to fields, clear error messages, keyboard-preserved state
• Respects prefers-reduced-motion user preference
• Semantic structure: correct heading levels, lists, blockquotes and landmarks

Physical Accessibility

• Disabled parking at adjacent Akhuzat HaHof lot (within 50m)
• Step-free / ramped accessible entrance
• Equipped accessible restroom per standard
• Clear wayfinding signage
• Hearing induction loop at host station — installation in progress
• Tactile warning surfaces — installation in progress

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some site components may not be fully accessible, especially third-party embeds (Google Maps, Facebook archive gallery) which are partly outside our control. We are actively working to make these accessible or replace them.

Filing a Complaint

If your inquiry is not adequately addressed, you may file a complaint with the Commission for Equal Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the Ministry of Justice: gov.il.
